Quando e perché avete deciso di lavorare nella pubblicità?
Molte persone scelgono le accademie d’arte per fare ciò che amano. Noi abbiamo visto nella pubblicità un’occasione per collaborare con molte persone di talento: illustratori, registi, designer, scrittori. Del resto i creativi sono i burattinai dell’arte commerciale: una bella prospettiva. E poi così abbiamo anche potuto esseri intervistati e ci siamo sentiti importanti.
Qual è il vostro sogno?
Essere felici.
Perché avete deciso di mettere nel portfolio così tante campagne integrate?
Abbiamo cercato di fare e mettere insieme cose diverse, e di sviluppare quindi uno stile nostro.
Quale pensate che sia la miglior campagna integrata fatta finora?
Ce ne sono molte. Se guardi gli annual del D&AD, i lavori migliori sono nella sezione delle campagne integrate. Io e il mio collega abbiamo adorato la campagna “Diamond Shreddies”: è uno di quei pensieri straordinariamente semplici, che hai proprio sotto il naso, ma di cui nessuno sembrava accorgersi.
Che cosa pensate della pubblicità italiana? Ricordate una campagna italiana che vi ha colpito? Verreste a lavorare qui?
Non sappiamo molto di pubblicità italiana (sebbene Paul sia per un quarto italiano), per cui non possiamo rispondere. Per noi Londra è il top: se ce la fai lì, ce la fai ovunque. Comunque piacerebbe ad entrambi lavorare all’estero e se ci dovesse capitare un lavoro in Italia sono certo che lo accetteremmo, giusto per movimentare un po’ le cose. E se non fosse solo per il lavoro, verremmo comunque, solo per la prospettiva di vedere il derby a San Siro.
Quali sono le vostre agenzie preferite?
Agenzie preferite? A parte Inferno, l’agenzia per cui lavoriamo, ce ne sono un po’: Kessel Kramer, Wieden’s, Karmarama & Work Club. Ci piace la mentalità delle piccole agenzie, quel sentirsi a casa, hai presente?

Io ero piacevolmente sconvolto dal lavoro di CDP, ma era il ’79.
Una delle cose delle quali mi vanto, sul serio, è di avere “tirato su”, nel mestiere, un po’ di gente.
Noi “vecchiacci” abbiamo un obbligo: dobbiamo dare spazio, tempo e quel che basta per andare avanti nel miglior modo possibile.
